Belgian Businesses Accelerate AI Adoption, See Major Benefits
It seems businesses across the globe are embracing the future, and Belgium is no exception! A recent study reveals that over 80% of Belgian companies are now actively using or experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI), marking a significant leap from just 62% in 2022. This rapid adoption, highlighted in a joint report by Deloitte, Google, and Agoria, showcases a clear commitment to integrating AI into core business strategies.
This widespread integration isn't just for show. Companies are leveraging AI, particularly generative AI and large language models, across various departments including customer service, marketing, sales, and IT. The benefits are clear: 65% report productivity gains, 64% note improved customer experience, and half are seeing new product and service development thanks to AI. As Alexander Van Caeneghem from Agoria notes, "AI is developing extremely rapidly and Belgian companies are not sitting still. From chatbots in customer service to advanced analytics in marketing, AI is already an indispensable part of many business processes."
However, this technological surge isn't without its hurdles. Belgian firms are grappling with talent shortages (42%), ensuring data quality (34%), and navigating cybersecurity concerns (33%). Dieter Moens from Deloitte emphasizes this point: "What stands out is that companies are increasingly integrating AI into their core strategy. This is a positive development, but it also creates challenges. Data quality, security, and skills are crucial."
Despite these challenges, the outlook remains incredibly positive. Nicolas De Neef from Google highlights the transformative power of generative AI, stating it "is opening up completely new possibilities for companies. From automating creative tasks to personalizing customer interactions, the potential is enormous." For Canadian businesses looking to the future, Belgium's experience offers valuable insights: strategic investment in training, clear AI strategies, and a focus on ethical use are key to unlocking AI's full potential.
