A former cyber spy for the U.S. National Security Agency has just secured a massive $60 million in funding for her new startup, Harmonic. Founder Alissa Knight is on a mission to protect companies from the rapidly emerging threats posed by artificial intelligence.

The rise of powerful AI, including large language models, has created a new frontier for cyberattacks. Many organizations are rushing to integrate this technology without fully understanding the security risks. Harmonic aims to fill this critical gap, providing a much-needed line of defence against AI-driven threats and vulnerabilities.

Harmonic is developing what it calls a "security co-pilot" for the AI pipeline. The platform is designed to seamlessly integrate with major cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. It will essentially act as a firewall, helping businesses secure the AI models they build and deploy, protecting them from data poisoning, model theft, and other sophisticated attacks.

The $60 million seed round is one of the largest ever for a cybersecurity company at this early stage. This significant investment, led by firms like Ten Eleven Ventures, highlights the growing urgency in the tech community to get ahead of malicious uses of AI and safeguard corporate data in a new era of digital intelligence.
